When we are giving examples, we may list all the examples or we may just list one. When we are only giving
one example among all in English, we will use the pattern “one of the” to help us. In Chinese, we will use the following pattern “其中之一” to achieve the same sense.
Difference:
1. In English, the noun must be in plural form when the pattern “one of the” is used. However,
the Chinese word “ 一 ” will be used instead to mean “one of them”
2. The most difficult part in Chinese is the use of classifiers. Since different objects needs different
classifiers, we have to be careful when using “其中之一” because a correct classifier has to be used.
